COURTNEY SHAW
Hi! I'm Courtney! I'm a professional voice actor and a classically trained actress and singer. I'm also a proud member of Animus Theatre Company along with Matthew Lillard (Twin Peaks, Scooby-Doo) and Tony nominated playwright Beth Henley (Crimes of the Heart, Pulitzer Prize Winner). The stage is my first home, having begun acting professionally as a young teen after directing and starring in dozens of acclaimed living room performances as a child. I have appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions at theaters such as The Cherry Lane, Westside Thetare, The Mint, Theatre Row and have helped produce and perform in full-day star-studded play reading series at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre. I have been blessed with the opportunity to work under the direction of Leslye Headland, Pamela Adlon, and Matthew Lillard, and have acted alongside the likes of Alexis Bledel, Wrenn Schmidt, Nnamdi Asomugha, Eric William Morris, Jared Gilman, and Zachary Spicer. I completed the two-year acting conservatory and musical theatre program at Circle in the Square Theatre School.
As a Voice Actor I work in animation, audiobooks, video games, commercials, toy products, ESL, and the Tinkercast hit musical children's podcast Flip and Mozi's Guide to How to Be an Earthling, with music by Grammy nominated THE POPUPS (available on all listening platforms). I specialize in authentic-sounding children's voices from infants and toddlers to teens (and I mean AUTHENTIC with a capital A! I have fooled many an industry pro - eternally sounding 14 has it's perks!). I play the lead of Whirl in Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy (now on Netflix!), Wombat on Disney Jr.'s P. King Duckling, and baby Princess Norma and Ida on Nickelodeon's Nella the Princess Knight, to name a few. I also do a good deal of English dubbing for foreign children's series (being the daughter of an English teacher helps me come up with on-the-spot, spot-on rewrites!), with some favorite roles being Taina and Suri in Nickelodeon Brazil's Taina and the Guardians of the Amazon, Cake Princess and Cheese in Netflix's Bread Barbershop, and Charlotte in the Adult Swim / Crunchy Roll series Fena: Pirate Princess. Favorite movies include Gretel in the Netflix Film Secret Magic Control Agency, and the title roles in the Eleven Arts Japanese anime film Liz and the Bluebird. I am represented by Stewart Talent and Parkside Talent Management.
I have a professional home recording booth with a noise floor of -78db, a Bees Neez Boutique Mic, a Scarlett Solo Focusrite, and I have a paid Source Connect subscription. My partner and I also build professional quality sound booths for voice actors in the tri-state and New England area (contact me for more info and follow our build pictures on my Facebook page as well as Facebook's Voice Actors of NY group)!
I am a HUGE animal lover (figuratively, not literally - all 5'2" of me is brimming with non-discriminatory adoration for animals of all shapes and sizes!), and I am proud of my many realistic animal sounds - including elephant, small dog, cat, kitten, chicken, monkey, crow, and seagull. Yes, seagull. I hope to someday be cast in my favorite play of the same name and put this skill to good use.
